Photography Concept and Styling - HIDDEN

the word hidden

the word hidden

Sometimes it's better be silent. Sometimes it's just too hard to say it aloud. Sometimes it's hard to be silent. Sometimes it must be said out loud.

Somewhere it's not allowed to say an opinion. Somewhere the silence is just killing you. Somewhere you can say anything but somewhere too many can't say anything aloud.

Now it's written, so it's said. But who can say, who understood it right?

I guess the most difficult thing is to understand and to be understood.

This post is one of my Photography Concept and Styling series that I post once in the month. If you care to see what I've done before you can find them all here.

If you want to be part of this post series, leave a word as a comment to me. I won't publish it. If I make a photo essay of it you'll be informed and mentioned on blog post, when I use your word. But I can't promise that I make an essay of every word I get. This time the word was my own. Sometimes it is.

Thank you!

Is It Vintage - Small Scissors

old vintage scissors photo bu Kreetta Järvenpää

I bought these scissors in auction without knowing that they even existed. I bought a big box of old sewing materials, threads, buttons, fabrics and when I was unbacking the box at home I was totally amezed when I saw these in one small box. I don't know how old are they but I'm sure these are the most beautiful scissors I've ever seen.

The decoration is just amazing. Do you know how old are these? Or have you ever seen scissors like them? I've used them once - they aren't so sharp anymore. But who cares. They are so adorable.

I don't know where you can get such a handmade quality nowadays. Look at those small details. It's just amazing.

vintage scissors

I love old things because they look beautiful but also they have often a story behind them. Sad to say I don't know the story behind these scissors. But that I know, in that same box I found also few black lace scarfs - mantillas.  So I guess this lady lived a long life.

Short Poetry

poetry by kreetta

This evening I wrote a poem with my camera. I needed one moment for private thoughts on a grey day.

I think I wrote two poems. They both are love poems. For beauty of the nature and for love of being at our cosy home and having a delicious dinner. Thanks goes to my husband - once again. Now he sleeps on a sofa and I'm writing my blog...weekend is coming after one day and I can't tell you how happy I am about it! I hope you are too!

Stars

light, dark, moon

It was full moon. Too bright to photograph stars. It was full moon. Too dark to photograph photographer. It was cold and bright. We had to warm up in the car after watching the moon and stars.

Can you see the Big Dipper also known as Ursa Major? No tripod - that you can see, I'm sure. My husband was trying to photograph Sadir star and that you just can't see in my picture.

It's big - the dark sky full of stars.

Have a lovely week!

Baked apples

baked apples photo by Kreetta Järvenpää blog:www.gretchengretchen.com

Third blog post this weekend - this have to be my record in blogging. Never had done so many in two days. I made baked apples as I've been thinking for so many weeks. Now it's done. It's very easy. You can find a lot of recipes about it.

All you need is good apples, sugar or honey, butter, oil or vegetable fat and spices like cinnamon and vanilla. This time we used also almond flour. There are as many versions as makers.

Well one lesson to learn still. I just have to tell you that if there's no light there's no good picture. In Finland it's getting dark earlier than before so it means before seven pm. It's almost too dark to photograph...or it is. Next pic is taken seven pm with good camera. Do you know that when we are in December the darkness comes about 4 pm. Can you imagine that?

These apples were very good with ice cream.

Slow living - Natural dye vol. 3 - avocado one more time

natural dye photo by Kreetta Järvenpää blog:www.gretchengretchen

Yesterday I promised you to blog about my second avocado natural dye try. Well, here is the result of dye. I followed India Flint's tip "try mordanting your cotton in a little dilute ash water - especially if using avocado pits. Alkalis + avocado tend to give reddish colours :) " she left me this comment on my post and I was so happy to get this kind of very kind help from her. And I have to say I got a lot better red. If you want to compare you can find my previous avocado natural dye here. Isn't this result better? I think so. I also kept the fabric longer in dyeing water.

Apples are just perfect at the moment. I've been planning to make baked apples for few weeks now but somehow just haven't done it, haha. Today I will. Now I have to because I told you about it.  Maybe even take a photo of them - then my trilogy of this weekend would be almost perfect...

Have you already tried natural dye?

Have a lovely Sunday !

Hello Autumn!

photo by kreetta järvenpää blog www.gretchengretchen.com

Hello hello!

How are you? I've been a little bit busy with my work and a little bit lazy with my blogging. There have been new things to learn and new timetable to hold on. I have to admit that work takes a huge piece of my creativity.

In our little garden we've been harvesting as you can see from the photos. I have still some work left there like herbs should be collected and dried. I also should dry tomato seeds to be used next year.

We have beautiful and very colored trees at the moment so I hope I can make a post about those gorgeous ones. It's getting also colder so one really have to start to make a new woolly hat. I've made also another test with natural dye - avocado - with help of India Flint's tips and got much more color from those fruits. I'll blog about it in near future. I have also few DIY ideas growing up in my brain, haha. So as you see - I like to tell you of so many great things! But time is limited.

And if you are wondering what is the last picture, I can tell you that it is roots of tomato. Those roots made my day by bringing me a lot of beautiful red tomatoes, so thank you goes for them!

How is your life at the moment? New things - old favorites?

I hope you have a beautiful weekend!

Link Love Creative - Art

Light is slowly fading and we are totally turning to autumn and winter is just behind a corner. I guess we all use more time inside in our living rooms and we enjoy of the candle light and warmth of woolly socks.

Less of light is one reason why I decided to make today Link Love Creative post. This time it is about Art - our friend and beloved. Another reason is - you know the days when it's just impossible to make anything artistic, creative or something that you can be proud of? It's better just clean up the house and just be happy about it.

Today I tried to paint and...yes thank you for asking - cleaning went just fine! Let's find our inspiration back!

These fab links are for your eyes only.
