Today I have so many great things to tell you.
I adore these little creatures and made a photo essey of them because they are just so lovely. I blogged about finding them last summer at Handemade Supermarket in Berlin. I bought 2 of them from lovely ladies of Till Herba Caeli and travelled with them by train back to home Finland. Last October I told you some DIY tips to make home for them. Now I just want to show you Tillandsia's beauty with hint of a great DIY made of bottle stopper wire.

Oh these are lovely! And as you can hang them from the ceiling: totally cat-proof! Thanks for the cool giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHello Judith, that is a very very good point!
DeleteOo! Osallistun! Lempikukkani on pioni, mutta nää on upeita ja näyttää kestävämmiltä :)
ReplyDeleteMoikka Aino!
DeleteNo nää kesti mulla ainakin yli talven.
Congrats on the the guest post! Awesome! Love the collection of plant pictures. The second picture is really lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It was an honour to make the guest post and first time too.
ReplyDeleteHi Kreetta. As I told you, you really knocked my shoes off with both photos and the project, thank you :-) You're so talented. Wow the selection of the air plants are so delicious! It's a wonderful shop!
ReplyDeleteHi Mette! Thank you for your kind words. I have to admit that it demands a little bit work to get there, but it's fun!
DeleteI love those plants - they would be perfect for my son's apartment!
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear Cyndi! Sounds good plan - Good luck !!
DeleteVoi miten kaunista!
DeleteI've never heard of this plant before! They seem so different! I would love to win them!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week!
Hello Rosa! Well, now you know and you might even get one! Have a lovely week you too!
DeleteYou have lovely photos! I've never seen these plants before, one of them (4th picture, hanged upside down) looks like an onion :) Enjoy your photo essay very much!
ReplyDeleteThanks onel! I think these are quite new to many of my lovely readers! It's always great to show new things!
DeleteYes, they were new to me too - plants that grow in the air? I'm not good with plants but I promise: I'd take good care of them!
ReplyDeleteYes, Lena.
DeleteWikipedia tells that "Tillandsia species are epiphytes (also called aerophytes or air plants) – i.e. they normally grow without soil while attached to other plants. Epiphytes are not parasitic, depending on the host only for support. Moisture and nutrients are gathered from the air (dust, decaying leaves and insect matter) through structures on the leaves called trichomes.
And Lena if they have survived in my care I wouldn't be afraid at all :) Good luck!!

Gretchen oh how I wish I could have these shipped to NZ! Truly they're beautiful! I'm a huge fan of this string plant and air plants. I popped over to have a look at the DIY and it seems not to hard. Mel x
ReplyDeleteHello Mel! Nice to see you here! I promised to send these beauties everywhere...I don't have any idea how much or is it possible to even send you these but I will try if you win!
DeleteGood luck Mel!
I have just discovered air plants a couple of month ago. Always wondered on Pinterest how they would survive without any soil until I found out on a recent slow shop tour :-)
ReplyDeleteHad already admired your tutorial on Monstercircus and I do not have any problems with shipping them to Barcelona! :-) Actually, this is exactly what I am looking for right now since I have bought a hanging terrarium and it looks so lost alone and need a nice fellow hanging next to it!
Hello hello Gudy!
DeleteYes, now you have a good chance to get a friend to hanging terrarium. Good luck!
