Photography Concept and Styling - PEOPLE

People love stories, don't they? I think it would be great to be a super super great storyteller. I'm a photographer and my work is about telling stories and we all have one. I'm sure you've heard the phrase the truth is stranger than fiction. 

What kind of people the stories are about? How the stories are born?

People want to be remembered and not forgotten. People want that their life story is valuable and worth telling and we all want to hear other people's stories. We can be inspired by people and their stories. We can find stories comforting and supporting or they just make us happy. We can relate to people in stories. We can also be so scared of stories and get too excited and feel uncomfortable. 

People who make stories for their occupation have a huge assigment. Yes, it is a passion and there's never enough time to tell every story. So we have to choose. But if we choose carefully - we can tell story of so many people with only one pic or story. 

I made this photo essay of the word people. What kind of story/stories these photos tell you?

Photography Concept and Styling - MUNDANE

Today is the day, it's the last day of November. I think I'm going to trust your intuition this time. It's a little bit difficult to open my thoughts about the word mundane even though it might feel quite obvious when you think about it but it's not. I have so many thoughts that I don't know where to begin. I hope this photo essay brings you many thoughts worth to think.

I want to thank you Jealous Curator who gave me this word - I love her blog. It's a great place to dive in! So here we go - mundane!

Photography Concept and Styling - HIDDEN

Sometimes it's better be silent. Sometimes it's just too hard to say it aloud. Sometimes it's hard to be silent. Sometimes it must be said out loud. 

Somewhere it's not allowed to say an opinion. Somewhere the silence is just killing you. Somewhere you can say anything but somewhere too many can't say anything aloud.

Now it's written, so it's said. But who can say, who understood it right? 

I guess the most difficult thing is to understand and to be understood.

Photography Concept and Styling - CIRCUS

This time the word is my own. It's Circus. I love the frayed world of it. I love also ceramics, acryl painting and vintage. Here they are all together. I used Raku technique with ceramics. Ceramic pearls are painted with acrylic paint like the backround. You can also find old vintage pearls that are my faves too. I just got them this weekend from our friend Anne. Thank you!

Photography Concept and Styling - SUNSHINE

I feel everybody is talking about it. It is very fashionable. Have you heard the thing called breaking out of your comfort zone? Well, I have and I did. I decided to make my Photography Concept and Styling post as a video. I made it in one day about one word - sunshine.  I've asked people to give me a word/words that I can use in this post series. This time I got this word from lovely talent Michele Michael from Elephant Ceramics. Thank you Michele!
 

I have had one picture in my head when I've been thinking this word and it has been a picture of fabric in the wind. I don't know why. I made this video yesterday. Showing the video that I produced in so little time isn't easy. But going with the flow and being able to just let it go while you could still continue...well, that is the biggest barrier to conquer. Deadlines comes and goes and so should you also make and then just let it be. It might sound a little bit weird but in reality when you do a lot of creative work you can't get stuck with every one of them.

One thing more about this work. I think it was great word to work with. Not the easiest one but the best one if you like natural light like I do. I love it. It makes you smile and it makes beautiful lightning in photographs and why not in video also. Great inspiration.

Photography Concept and Styling - LA MELODIE DU BONHEUR

I got this "word" from Céline from Bohème Circus blog. I got words of French song by Benjamin Biolay. The song is called La Melodie du Bonheur. It is also the French name of the very famous film...C'est l'air du temps...from past to present and future to come. For some reason I went to the world of quotes and dreamy feelings. It is not always easy to explain process why everything happens - this time it just happened. But one thing is sure. Be open. Try. Trust your intuition.

Photography Concept and Styling - RECOLLECTION

This time I'm not only playing with images I'm also playing with words, ideas, perception and even psychology. Not too seriouly. The word is recollection and it is about my childhood memory. I trust myself in your hands.

Let me tell you. I have had the memory of my mom mowing the lawn since the heatwave that started on Monday. Heat is gone but my mind can't stop thinking that memory. Hearing the lawn mower's sound and the smell of grass makes it even stronger. 

This week I've been sick and I have spent my time drawing a little bit. I've been trying to draw a good picture of my memory. Still trying. So in the middle of drawing today I got a better idea. Color concept. You see, my mom had a striped top on her and denim shorts - I remember. I decided to continue with the colors of that top. Those colors you can see in my pictures. What else can you see?

Well, from the color concept I started to doodle the word recollection. But before that I had asked my husband (who is better in English than me) what word should I use memory, recollection or my favorite memento. Recollection we decided. Back to the doodling...so when I was doing that my husband suddenly said that actually recollection is not so heartwarming word - I can agree with that. It is more like a cold defining word replacing the beautiful and sentimental word memory. Well, here we are back in square one :)

But then suddenly - I got a great idea. I think. Rorschach inkblot test. My husband's comment was what I needed to have an idea. I decided to ask a question of human nature with my photo essee. We have 4 images that makes our mind swirl. What these images represent to you? 

By answering you reveal something from your nature and personality...and your personality - feelings, behavior, memories, way you think, way you want to be, what you love and hate and why - the whole matter is so complicated structure of different kind of things. Human mind is so weird and we do not know everything yet even though people has spent so much time studing it and developed so many ways to measure our personality and theories to explain it. 

The biggest question is do you believe in this kind of theories? When I was doing my inkblot images...I noticed that somehow what ever I did it came out reminding of something very familiar to us - all women - and somehow it doesn't make me to believe it more. But I won't go further. But if you want to try, just do it! It is always fun to make tests and see how it goes. Do it with your best friend and have fun!...and of course these aren't real ones at all.

Ok, if you made it this far...I can tell you that this was a story of my process to make a photo essee of my summer memories. Isn't it crazy where you might end up if you let your ideas and thoughts wander freely. I recommend. Have a thought, have another one. If you are stuck - change the direction - you'll find your answer sooner than you think!

Photography Concept and Styling - PROCESS

Two different processes. One plan. Same theme. Where to go from here?

To you who haven't seen the previous Photography Concept and Styling post which was also the first one of this series...I tell that with this series I want to work with different ways of representation. Maybe it gives a birth to new idea or view. 

I make a short photo essey about simple thing like word, shape, feeling, name, element, color, age, era, poem, quote...First word was triangle, you can find the photo essey here.

What would you like to see as a short photo essey? It would be wonderful to hear. Tell me simple thing like word, shape, feeling, name, element, color, age, era, poem, quote etc. You can leave a comment but if I were you I would send an email because that way nobody else can see it before it is online. New post series: Photography Concept and Styling

As I told you before I've been planning to start few new post series. Here is the first and biggest one. I'm so happy to tell you this! Photography Concept and Styling. I make a short photo essey about simple thing like word, shape, feeling, name, element, color, age, era, poem, quote etc.

First one is about triangle. A shape which has been in fashion for a while and now it has grown to shape of harlequin.  

With this series I want to work with different kind of possibilities to represent things and ideas. I'm interested in if it brings something new. Maybe it gives a birth to new ideas and views. I think this project will grow and choose its direction but that is a mystery to me at this point.

What would you like to see as a short photo essee? It would be wonderful to hear.
