Mothers, few roses and baby

roses photo by Kreetta Järvenpää www.gretchengretchen.com

This rose has lovely scent and it's called Lavender Ice. Big fluffy rose. We bought actually three of them. To my mom, my mother-in-law and one to our home.

Lovely weekend is now behind. So many moving moments. I get tears in my eyes - still. I wonder how much I'll cry after next ten years because it's getting worse all the time if you know what I mean. Happy or sad - same result, haha.

This little cardigan was for a little boy called Onni. He got his name this weekend. My husband made this, can you believe it? I was totally amazed when he told me he is going to make one. He has done socks, woolly hat and some other knitting works before...but this was so adorable. It's for his brother's first son. I'm so proud of him and happy for this little baby boy's parents.

My mom and I found these lovely flowers and roses in Huittinen at Ellän kukka ja Taimi. So lovely scene on Saturday evening. Plenty of roses and hydrangeas and many more.

I also found these pretty fabrics with paint at my mom's home. She paints and she has done some screen printing also and she likes to recycle - so this is how she does it.

I was talking about my workstudio plan with her and she promised me some plants what she has few already. Here are two of them. I'll get them from her place when I have my own place ready to be decorated. Not yet - but in the near future - I hope.

So delicate and fragile. Oh, I can't wait for that moment when I can carry these pretty ones to their new home! Thank you mom!

Pääsiäismatka - Easter road trip

This is a photographic essay of our Easter road trip to see our moms in Western Finland. We found lovely grove and rapid and I found out that my mom's orange tree is 47 years old and that it has grown from fruit seed which was bought at a grocery store in 1965. I was amazed. I knew it was quite old but 47 years that was surprise. Spring in Finland is just beginning. We have harsh light and it reveals everything which has been sleeping under the snow.

Tämä on kuvaessee matkasta äideille pääsiäisenä. Kevään kova valo paljastaa lumen alla nukkuneen luonnon, joka on heräilemässä uuteen kasvukauteen. Äideillä on hauskoja harrastuksia. Toinen keräilee kiviä ja toinen maalailee posliinia. Ja itselleni yllätyksenä tuli, koska olin täysin unohtanut, että äitini olohuoneessa kasvava appelsiinipuu on 47 vuotta vanha. Se on kasvanut vuonna 1965 kaupasta ostetun appelsiinin siemenestä. Hullunkurista.

Run-down old gas station. Or it was before big chain of stations.

Pines and the blue sky with sweet clouds.

Run-down house next to the road. I wonder what kind of history it has.

Pheasant's feather at mom. She also collects stones.

Old-fashioned lace in a window at mom.

Barn in the middle of field. In Finland you can see a lot of barns
when you are driving through the countryside.

Our destination -  Mommola rapids

There was a grove next to rapid. Beautiful.

On the way back mom's place -reflection of us and the road

Mom's hobby - porcelain painting. Rose vase and below there is the table cloth made
by mom's auntie. Crafts run in our veins.

Orange tree. My mom has grown it from an orange seed bought at a grocery store.
It's very old tree because the year when the orange was bought from grocery
store was 1965. So orange tree has been in my mom's living room 47 years.
It has lot of  thorns - oranges are safe.
