Joy Hunt - Weekend in Tallinn

Hello, hello there!

How are you? It's Monday - again. Day after a busy weekend is usually a little bit lazy and slow. We had a great time in Tallinn with my friend. We went there by boat that is very easy way to get there from Helsinki. It takes only two hours. But boat travelling to me means usually that I'm on the waves for few days after...like at the moment I'm sitting on the sofa and waves comes and goes...if you know what I mean.

Tallin is city of contrats. Old meets new and decadence meets shiny and sleek. We visited also Kumu - Art Museum of Estonia. It was built next to beautiful old buildings and next to the beautiful Kadriorg Park. I wanted to see Irving Penn's exhibition. He is The photographer.

Kalamaja area is trendy one at the moment. If you are hipster in Tallinn - you live there. We went there for a dinner. Kolm Sibulat is a new restaurant at Tellsikivi 2 and it was worth to find. I heard about it from one of my friends. We ate well and dinner was lovely. You can find their menu from here. New places are born all the time and you have always reason to come back. Like this time we didn't have time to visit this place - Nop Tallinn. Maybe next time because organic food is near my heart.

If you are interested about crafts - you have to go to Karnalux. It's a heaven. I bought threads, alpaca knitting yearn and feathers. I'm planning to make few dream catchers for X-mas. Maybe I have few of them in my shop that I'm planning to open later this autumn. I know I just cleaned my work space and promised not to buy anything for a while...but couldn't resist. My friend bought so many balls of yarn and she has great plans and I'm sure they will be awesome! I have only one plan - a woolly hat.

In Saturday evening after dinner we walked back to our hotel and saw these cyclists. It's great to see bicycle culture is getting stronger everywhere - I hope.

I wish you found some interesting things or spots in my short story of Tallinn. Have a lovely week! I also wish I don't have to "sail" all the week :)

  1. The sign on the door in the first picture is hilarious - and the image of the reflected sky in the skyscrapers amazing! You really made me want to go to Tallin. It's one of the european capitals I still need to visit! Interesting to hear that you're planning to open a shop! I hope to find out more about it soon!
